HUNDREDS of people slept out in Charlotte Square on Friday night to raise funds for a children’s charity.

Byte Night, a UK-wide Action for Children fundraiser, saw 200 representatives from the business and tech community spend the night under the stars.

Funds raised will support some of those young people at services such as Action for Children’s New Horizons in Haddington, which provides accommodation for homeless young people in Edinburgh and across the Lothians.

Rhona Hutchon, director of Harvey Nash and co-chair of the Byte Night Scotland board, said: “2016 was a record breaking year for Byte Night Scotland and we were delighted to have so much support from the fabulous Scottish tech sector.

“The whole tech community in Edinburgh got behind the event. If you want to play your part, you can still donate by texting ‘ACTION’ to 70080 to donate £5 now.”
