Simpler times perhaps, but the summer of 76 saw a heatwave hit the Capital

We delved back into the archives to look back at the summer of 1976.

From cowds enjoying the sunshine at the putting green in East Princes Street Gardens to teens stripped to the waist and in bare feet crossing Princes Street in summer 1976. it was a long hot summer for many.

Fife also simmered during Glenrothes Summer Show in August 1976 and it was even a year of historical firsts, with Rhona Heeps and Stewart Somerville the first children into Portobello open-air pool when it reopened in June 1976.
