IRONMAN has taken the decision to cancel its race in Edinburgh in 2019.
Over the last two years, almost 2,500 athletes have taken on the challenge of racing in the historic city.
IRONMAN organisers said: “We would like to express thanks to s partners, particularly The City of Edinburgh Council, Event Scotland, East Lothian and Midlothian Councils, our Race Directors Richard Pearson and Paul McGreal, Triathlon Scotland, all the volunteers who have assisted on this event, and of course the fans and community who supported the athletes so ably.
“Scotland provides a unique landscape for triathlon racing. We’re proud of the legacy of this event and its amazing courses and locations. While it is with sadness that this announcement is made, we hope the triathlon community will continue to race triathlon events in Scotland and recommend athletes explore Triathlon Scotland for upcoming races.
“IRONMAN wishes to thank the athletes and the community for becoming part of the IRONMAN 70.3 Edinburgh story.”
