A NEW Lidl is set to be built on Easter Road after city councillors granted planning permission.
Supermarket chiefs said that work would begin on the new store – on the former B&Q site – within the next three months.
They said it would boast an instore bakery, customer toilets and parking for both cars and bicycles.
Lidl UK’s head of property for Scotland, Gordon Rafferty, said: “We could not be more delighted to have received planning permission, and look forward to getting started on construction.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the local community for their continued support.”
