Man arrested following suspicious fire in Dalkeith

Police in Midlothian have arrested and charged a 30-year-old man in connection with a suspicious fire in Dalkeith.

The incident happened around 1am on Tuesday 31st July in the Easter Langside Drive area of the town where a van was set alight.

A report has been sent to the Procurator fiscal and a man is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.

Detective Constable Kenny McKenzie of Dalkeith CID said: “Fire-raising is exceptionally dangerous and can often result in serious injury or potentially be fatal. A white Ford Transit van was damaged in this incident and fortunately no one was injured.”
