Man charged after two cut free from car following A1 crash

Emergency services attended the incident on Friday afternoon following the incident just after 2pm on the A1 between the Spott and Thistly Cross roundabout.

A man and a woman had to be cut free from a car following the accident on the A1.

Firefighters from around the Lothians used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the man and woman before they were taken to the Royal Infirmary.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed that a Mini Cooper and a Renault Van were involved in the incident although no one was seriously injured.

They said: “The female driver and male passenger of the Cooper, aged 42 and 16, were taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with non life-threatening injuries.

“The road was reopened around 5.50pm and the public are thanked for their patience during this time.

“A 26-year-old man has been charged in connection with this and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
