Two men have been fined after dancing on graves naked in an Edinburgh cemetery.

Mourners flagged down a police patrol car after being left “outraged” as Aaron Dennington and Michael Ogilvie took their clothes off at the Capital’s Eastern Cemetery on Drum Terrace on May 15.

Officers found the men naked with alcohol containers lying on the ground.

Edinburgh Sheriff Court was told the pair had been drinking during the incident at 11.15am.

The court heard the men started dancing naked in full view of anyone walking past the cemetery.

Fiscal Depute Christine Danbolt told Sheriff Adrian Cottam that people who had been visiting their mother’s grave were outraged.

Dennington, 35, from Jane Street in Edinburgh, was fined £240 after pleading guilty to committing a public indecency by removing his clothes, exposing his buttocks and genitals, and dancing and standing on graves.

Ogilvie had also been fined £240 after previously admitting to the same offence.
