A CITY councillor has taken his seat in the House of Lords following former prime minister David Cameron’s controversial resignation honours list.

Mark McInnes, who takes the title Lord McInnes of Kilwinning, was flanked by supporters Baroness Goldie and Lord Dunlop as he swore the oath of allegiance to the Queen.

Lord McInnes is a Conservative councillor for the Meadows/Morningside ward and director of the Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
