POLICE in Midlothian are appealing for witnesses after a break-in at a farm on Friday afternoon.
The incident happened sometime between midday and 3pm at Moorfoot Farm found to the south of Gladhouse Reservoir near temple.
A thief or thieves broke into the farmhouse and stole a four-figure sum of money including Euros as well as a large quantity of jewellery, electrical equipment including laptops, and camera equipment.
The owners were not within the property at the time of the break-in.
Local officers are now carrying out various lines of inquiry in an effort to trace those responsible and want to hear from anyone who has information or who saw a blue car that was travelling in the area.
Sergeant Michele Lindsay of Penicuik police station said: “From our early inquiries we believe that there may have been a blue coloured Fiat Punto in the area around the time of this break-in. Today, I appeal to anyone who saw this vehicle or if you were the occupant of this car to please come forward as soon as possible.
“Similarly, I appeal to anyone who has information relating to this incident to contact police immediately.
“A number of valuable items were stolen from this property and I would urge anyone who has been approached to buy second hand goods that they believe may have been stolen to let police know.”
