A man has been taken to hospital following an assault on Princes Street in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Here’s what we know so far.

The incident

A man has been hospitalised following an assault in the early hours of the morning.

Police confirmed they were called to Princes Street at 3.50am on Saturday and one man was taken to hospital.

The condition of the man is not yet known

Transport

Buses had been getting diverted but traffic is once again moving on Princes Street.

Due to a road closure buses had been unable to serve Princes Street and were diverted via Hope Street, Charlotte Square, George Street in both directions

Stores on Princes Street affected?

The pavement has been sealed off from Sports Direct store to Mountain Warehouse.

Waterstones confirmed they won’t be opened at their usual time tweeting: “Due to an incident on Princes Street, we won’t be opening the store at our normal time of 9am. We’ll give an update on here in due course”
