Concerns are growing for a student reported missing from his Edinburgh College accommodation overnight.

Officers were yesterday scouring undergrowth on Duddingston Golf Club where they found items belonging to Antoine Maury, 21, a French national studying in Edinburgh.

Police searched ground close to the 18th fairway and the burn running through the course while a police helicopter circled overhead. Police were also at Portobello Rugby Club with a patrol car in Holyrood Park overlooking Duddingston Loch.

Inspector Neil Clyde of Craigmillar Police Station said: “Antoine is new to Edinburgh and will not familiar with the layout of the city. With this in mind we believe he may be lost and we are eager to trace him.

“We would ask anyone who has seen Antoine or recognises him to contact police on 101.”
