EMERGENCY crews are battling to cut a man free from his vehicle after a three-car smash brought the City Bypass to a halt.
The incident, which happened at around 7.20pm just before the Gilmerton junction, also saw two children saved from the vehicles by members of the public.
The youngsters have now been rushed to hospital as a “precautionary measure”, but firefighters are still working to cut the adult male free.
It is not yet known how the accident occurred.
A fire service spokesman said crews from Liberton, Tollcross, Musselburgh, Dalkeith and Newcraighall were all on the scene. Police and an ambulance are also in attendance.
