AN ARTISTIC installation calling for an end to ‘bed blocking’ set up in Princes Street Gardens has been destroyed by vandals just hours after it was set up.
The piece by local artist Caitlin Dick was based on a hospital bed and represented the resilience of the human heart when trapped in hospital limbo.
It was dropped in the city centre on Friday and marked the start of the UK-wide ‘Campaign to End Bed Blocking’.
On hearing the news of her work’s destruction, Ms Dick said: “I’m gutted because it was a lot of hard work. Even though my piece has gone, there are many more to come. I hope this only serves to give the campaign more momentum.”
