Innis & Gunn's Beer Kitchen in Edinburgh has been named among a 94-strong list of the best pubs and bars in the UK.

The Scottish brewer has gone from strength to strength since its creation in 2003 and its first pub has now been featured in this year's National Pub and Bar Awards.

The Lothian Road bar is now in the running to be awarded best overall pub in the UK. The winner will be announced at a red carpet celebration in London on the 23 May, when 15 regional winners will also be revealed.

Dougal Gunn Sharp, Innis & Gunn Founder and Master Brewer, said, “We’re absolutely thrilled with this accolade from The National Pub & Bar Awards. A passion for bringing great beer and flavour to people is at the heart of Innis & Gunn and it’s a terrific honour to be awarded the Best Pub in Edinburgh.

“Our four Beer Kitchens in Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow and St Andrews all offer relaxed drinking and dining experiences for beer and food enthusiasts looking for flavour, passion and craft, it’s great to have this recognised.”

The Beer Kitchen menu is packed with a range of lagers, blondes and IPAs. For non-beer fans, the usual suspects of wines and spirits also feature along with cocktails and the ingenious 'hoptails'.

If you're feeling peckish, the bar menu has classics like fish and chips and a Shepherd's pie dubbed 'The Rod Stewart' along with handy beer suggestions to complement your chosen dish.

The winners of the National Pub and Bar Awards are judged on overall retail excellence, best practice and individual entrepreneurship.
