Research by Bank of Scotland examined coastal areas across the country to find the Scottish towns with the highest average house price (2018). The research uncovered a huge disparity between prices on the west and east coasts, with those on the Eastern side over £100,000 more expensive than their Western equivalent. Here are the most desirable seaside towns in Scotland according to the average house price last year.
North Berwick, East Lothian, topped the list with an average house price of 346,225GBP.
The home of golf in Fife had an average house price of 316,635GBP in 2018.

Also in Aberdeenshire, Stonehaven had an average house price of 218,163GBP in 2018.
Around 30 miles east of Scotland's Capital, Dunbar is the second East Lothian location to make the list with an average house price of 205,000GBP.
The Fife seaside town had an average house price of 198,104 GBP in 2018.
Another Fife commuter town, Dalgety Bay had an average house price of 196,342 GBP in 2018.
Situated in Inverclyde, Inverkip has an average house price of 196,342 GBP.
The town of Helensburgh in Argyll and Bute had an average house price of 189,192 GBP in 2018.
The town of Nairn in Highlands, around 17 miles east of Inverness had an average price of 186,407GBP in 2018.
