The Turnhouse stalwart’s return to a role he excelled in first time around follows a short-lived spell for Stewart Fraser as secretary/treasurer. The former Hearts finance director only took up the post earlier this year, succeeding Neil Park, but has resigned due to personal reasons.

Rather than appoint someone new in the middle of the season, the LGA has turned to Shaw to fill the void in the meantime.

“The busy part of the season is almost upon us, and for this period, Allan Shaw, the immediate past president and, indeed, a past secretary, will take on the secretarial duties in tandem with an administrator,” said president Paul Gibson.

“We see this arrangement lasting until the 1 October 2017 at the latest. There will be no dip in performance, or a reduction in the usual levels of efficiency.”

Shaw said: “It is a pity things did not work out for Stewart because he was settling in well and I enjoyed working with him. Under the circumstances, I am pleased to be able to help out in the short term but look forward to handing over again in a few months time.”
