Anderson set to make the French connection

It looks as if Scotland’s top female player Capital star Rose Anderson will definitely be playing in France this season.

The former Edinburgh Kool Kat and Portobello High School player has moved to the city of Nantes after successfully trialling for top French Euro League side Nantes Reze.

Anderson played last season for Cardiff team UWIC in the English first division and, after performing well for Team GB in the London Olympics, especially against eventual finalists France, it was always on the cards that the 24-year-old guard-forward would get noticed and picked up by a European pro team.

Though GB failed to win any of their Olympic group games in London they were in contention in all of them and took France to overtime, only to have victory snatched from their grasp by an amazing last-second basket by French guard Celine Dumerc, many people’s player of the tournament.

Team GB and France will lock horns again next June when they clash in the same preliminary group of the 2013 Eurobasket tournament in Brittany.
