Andy Murray to make long-awaited return to Wimbledon in men's doubles

Andy Murray is due to make a long-awaited return to Wimbledon on Thursday after missing the tournament last year.

The Scot, making a gradual return to action following hip surgery, will be taking part in the men's doubles competition.

Murray will join Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert in taking on Romanian Marius Copil and France's Ugo Humbert.

According to the All England Club's order of play for Thursday, the location of the match is still "to be arranged".

Murray will also take part in the mixed doubles competition and will partner Serena Williams.

The pair have been drawn against Germany's Andreas Mies and Chilean Alexa Guarachi in the first round, which could take place on Friday.

Meanwhile, Britain's Jay Clarke, a 20-year-old from inner city Derby, will be playing against tennis legend Roger Federer on No.1 Court on Thursday.

Four other Britons will also be making bids to progress further in the singles competitions.

Cameron Norrie will be playing Japan's Kei Nishikori in the first match on Centre Court, followed by Johanna Konta's match against Czech Katerina Siniakova.

On Court No. 2, Dan Evans will take on Nikoloz Basilashvili from Georgia and on Court 12 Harriet Dart will play Beatriz Haddad Maia from Brazil.

Met Office forecaster Craig Snell predicted a continuation of the good weather the tournament has enjoyed so far.

He said: "For the next two days there's going to be no interruptions, it's going to be almost wall to wall sunshine."

Mr Snell said the temperature could reach 26C on Thursday, with this potentially rising to 28C on Friday.
