Scottish champions Jake Wightman and Maddie Murray (both Edinburgh AC) smashed their best times in the British Milers Club Grand Prix meeting at Solihull.

Wightman won the A 800 metres in 1:47.37, taking 0.59 seconds off his previous best, while Murray slashed 03.59 secs off her 1500m best.

Murray took a big scalp, overhauling British international Jess Judd in the closing stages after pushing the pace bravely on the third lap to finish second in the A race in 4:10.17.

Ireland’s Ciara Mageean won in 4:09.93.

“That’s an amazing 10 seconds she’s taken off her best time this season,” said Murray’s coach John Lees.

Another Edinburgh clubmate Emily Dudgeon finished a close second in the women’s 800m in 2:02.25 behind Pudsey’s Alex Bell (2:01.96).

Lasswade’s Guy Learmonth won an international 800m in Antwerp in 1:47.49. “Happy with a convincing win,” he tweeted.
