Better known as a long jumper, 22-year-old Capital sprinter Allan Hamilton went top of the Scottish rankings for the 60 metres when he clocked a personal best of 6.78 seconds in the Mountain West Conference Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Queen Margaret University graduate Hamilton is on an athletics scholarship at New Mexico University.

Hamilton’s close Scottish long jump rival James McLachlan was just 0.01 seconds slower in Cedar Falls the following day to take second place in the lists. The two displace 16-year-old Cameron Tindle (EAC), 6.92 secs, at the top of the rankings.
