IPC World Championship gold medallist Maria Lyle is on a four-strong shortlist unveiled for the Scottish Para Athlete of the Year award.

Glasgow’s Jo Butterfield, who won the club throw and took bronze in the discus at the world champs in Doha last month, will be a strong favourite for the prize to be handed out early in the new year, ahead of 16-year-old East Lothian prospect Lyle, who took double sprint silver before helping GB&NI to 4x100m relay gold.

The nominations also include Borders 200m bronze medallist Sammi Kinghorn as well as Derek Rae, who was fifth in the world marathon championship in London last April.
