Edinburgh University star Rhona Auckland has confirmed her next big race will be in the Great Edinburgh Cross at Holyrood Park on January 10.
The new European Under-23 champion has mapped out an ambitious race programme for the rest of the cross-country season, including the Scottish National Championships at Callendar Park, Falkirk, next month, the British Universities Championships, the English Inter-Counties and British National Trials and, if chosen, the World Championships in Guiyang, China, in March.
The medical sciences student from Aberdeenshire is determined to take her running career on to a new level.
Meanwhile, Capital star Chris O’Hare (Edinburgh AC), the European 1500 metres bronze medallist in Zurich last August, is in a formidable field for the men’s International 4K race.
It includes last year’s winner Garrett Heath, 2008 Olympic 1500m champion Asbel Kiprop, the winner in 2012, Japhet Korir, who at 19 was the youngest ever winner of the World Cross title last year, and Kenyan James Magut, who took the Commonwealth 1500m title at Hampden this year.
