Basketball: Scots lose to Auld Enemy

Despite 35 points from their new basketball cap, Scottish Rocks guard Danny Huffor, Scotland went down 88-76 to England in a challenge game before the BBL play-off final at the NIA in Birmingham on Saturday.

The former Falkirk Fury forward Ali Fraser, now at the University of Maine, also had an outstanding game for Scotland, scoring 20 points and taking 11 rebounds. Coach Tom Campbell started with Huffor, Fraser, Gareth Murray, Jonny Bunyan (both Scottish Rocks) and Nic Collins (St Mirren) in his side.

“It was a good test for us,” said former Arbroath star Murray, the Scotland captain. “This was our first game together for a couple of years and it’s a stepping stone for the Europeans.”

England, coached by Worcester Wolves mentor Paul James, were 43-25 up at half-time but the Scots cut the deficit against a side full with BBL players.
