Edinburgh University men will face St Mirren in the Scottish Basketball Cup Final at the Paisley side’s home court at the Lagoon Centre in just over a month’s time.
Saints overcame Glasgow Storm 86-74 to win the second semi-final at Scotstoun Sports Centre, Glasgow on Saturday and qualify for their sixth final in seven years.
Scottish cap Nick Collins scored 27 for Saints and Kyle Haldane matched that for Storm, who narrowed the gap to five with four minutes to play after being 43-31 down at half-time.
Meanwhile, Tayside Musketeers will go into 2016 on top of the Scottish Women’s League but only just after struggling to overcome rookies Boroughmuir Blaze 64-62 at Grove Academy on Saturday.
“We only had seven players available and were sloppy,” admitted coach Donnie MacDonald, who had to rely on his court leaders Yhana Van Wees, who scored 23 points, and Laura Hare, who had 19, for the narrow victory.
