Edinburgh Kings moved on from their impressive showing against Glasgow Rocks in the BBL Trophy to beat Troon Tornadoes, the third team in the Scottish basketball league, by 41 points on their new home court at Belmont Academy, Ayr on Saturday.
Kings survived a tight second quarter which they only took 25-21 to lead 52-34 at half-time and it was fairly one-way traffic after that as they cruised to a 93-52 win.
Despite a sore cheekbone and a black eye from the Rocks clash, Simon Flockhart was back in action and scored 11 points but Ed Rekis and Lee Reilly shared top spot with 22, Paddy Campbell and Stephen Dickson adding 15 each.
Edinburgh Kool Kats looked distinctly frisky as they demolished their Scottish Cup Final opponents Tayside Musketeers 72-42 at Portobello High with Lauren Walker scoring 23 points and having easily her best game since returning from the Netherlands two years ago. Leanne Paige added 16 and Hannah Peacock 11 to the 28 she scored in the junior Kats 61-47 win over Tayside. Kats cadettes completed a treble over the Muskies with a 46-40 win, Amy Fraser scoring 18.
Polonia Phoenix seniors will be happy with their 59-51 home win over champions Glasgow Rocks although it was an error-strewn performance as the visitors rallied from being 20 points down in the third quarter.
Phoenix and Kats remain tied at the top of the table. with one defeat each.
