Basketball: Scotland women lose out in semis

Have your say

Scotland’s women will meet Malta for the bronze medal in the European Small Countries Basketball Championship later today after going down 85-59 to favourites Iceland in the semi-finals in St Polten, Austria.

Hosts Austria, who beat Malta
58-46 in the other semi-final, will play Iceland in the final.

Scotland were again best served by joint captain Rhona Corkindale (Glasgow Rocks), who scored 17 points and took 11 rebounds, while Becca Allison (Edinburgh Kool Kats) kept up her good form with 17 points.

But the Scots were never really in with a chance after trailing 40-27 at half-time.
