Blaze face EU in must-win game after lockout at Ayr

Have your say

Boroughmuir Blaze will host Edinburgh University at the Crags Sports Centre tonight 8.20pm still not certain whether they will be awarded the points for Saturday’s away Acottish League game against Troon Tornadoes at Ayr’s Belmont Academy.

Bizarrely, the game had to be called off at short notice when no-one turned up to unlock the games hall. Now, BasketballScotland have a decision to make and could order the match to be replayed.

If the that is the case then EU, currently fourth in the table and Blaze in fifth and both on 35 points, still have two games to play while St Mirren in second place behind champions Falkirk Fury have finished their games and are on 38.

Edinburgh Kings are just one point behind Saints in third place having finished their fixtures with a real flourish, beating Tayside Musketeers 81-69 at Portobello HS on Saturday after a 98-44 win over Stirling Knights two days previously.

Were EU to beat Blaze they would still have to win an away game with Glasgow Storm on Saturday to clinch second place.

Chris Evans hit 21 points and Jac St John and Gert Marisalu 14 each for EU in their 80-52 win over Glasgow University at St Leonards SC yesterday.
