Edinburgh University too hot for Leeds

Have your say

Edinburgh University women have secured their place in next season’s British Universities Basketball Premier League North with a 78-35 home win over Leeds Carnegie.

Edinburgh’s only previous win in the campaign had come away to the Yorkshire side and it was vital that they completed the double over the visitors.

Despite being without Beth Mackie, who suffered a serious shoulder injury in training earlier this week, Edinburgh stayed solid and were helped by the first appearance of the season in a BUCS game of Scotland and British junior centre Hannah Peacock, who scored 27 points.

With American guard Sheila Dixon dominating the back court, Edinburgh soon showed their intent, romping through the first quarter 16-0.
