Dutch coach Bart Sengers has been entrusted with the huge task of coaching the new, as yet unnamed, BasketballScotland women’s team, who will enter the British WBBL for the first time in October.
But he will also remain coach of Edinburgh University women’s team who will continue to contest the Northern Premier Division of the British Universities Championship.
Following the announcement that Edinburgh University have become a partner with BasketballScotland in the new franchise, it was confirmed that Sengers will retain his position as Head Coach of EU women’s basketball as well as taking on the role of the new National Performance Coach for Scotland in the lead-up to the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.
The Dutch national under-18 women’s coach in both 2015 and 2016, Sengers is highly experienced.
“I am really excited to do all I can to make a difference for women’s basketball in Scotland,” said Sengers.
“I want to change the culture into a performance culture. There are so many things we can do to make it more professional.”
