Big Bash batsman Beaton called into T20 action for Eastern Knights

SMRH's Australian batsman Tom Beaton has been called up into the Eastern Knights team for their Cricket Scotland T20 Blast opener against the Western Warriors which takes place this evening.

The Knights, coached by Mazars Grange’s John Blain, will be looking to make the most of home advantage at the Grange in Stockbridge and Beaton’s availability is a boost. The 25-year-old batsman played for the Melbourne Renegades in the Australian Big Bash and is currently turning out for SMRH in the Baillie Gifford ESCA Championship.

Beaton is joined in the 12-man squad by seven Grange players – captain Andrew Brock, Preston Mommsen, Nick Farrar, wicketkeeper Alex Baum, Harris Aslam, Raj Routray and the in-form Chris Sole.

Heriot’s are represented by James Hearn and Mark Watt while Carlton’s Ali Evans is also involved along with Tom Sole, the former Grange spinner who is now part of the Northants Academy.

The match is due to begin at 5.30pm.
