Bonnyrigg’s Michael Leslie out of UK Snooker Championship

BONNYRIGG’S Michael Leslie lost 6-1 to England’s Ian Burns in the opening round of the Williamhill.com UK Championship yesterday at the Sheffield Snooker Academy.

Leslie lost the opening three frames before pulling one back with a break of 50 to trail 3-1 at the interval. A run of 53 stretched Burns’ lead by winning the fifth, before further breaks of 68 and 40 in the next two frames secured victory.

Glasgow’s Fraser Patrick is through to the second round after defeating China’s Li Yan 6-4. Patrick plays England’s Adam Duffy today in the second round whilst Alan McManus and Anthony McGill enter the event at this stage and also play today.

However, Perth’s Scott Donaldson, who plays out of Edinburgh’s Locarno Snooker Club, is out after losing the last three frames in a 6-5 defeat to Belgian wonderkid Luca Brecel, who made three centuries during the match.
