Bowls: Ladies set up England decider

Scotland will go head-to-head with defending champions England for the Women’s Home International Bowls Series title at Swansea.

After their opening-day defeat, the Scots clicked on four of their six rinks to strike up a 120-96 victory against host nation Wales.

Teviotdale’s Julie Forrest was the top skip for the second consecutive day as her rink set the Scots up for their overall victory with a 27-11 win over Wendy Price.

Scotland’s other victories came from West Lothian’s Wendy Purdie’s rink — 17-11 winners over Denise Molan — while East Fife’s Lynn Stein (22-13) and Blantyre’s Margaret Letham (20-16) posted wins over Kelly Packwood and Pauline Price respectively.

Balbardie’s Lorraine Malloy tasted her first defeat, missing out by a mere 19-17 to Hanna Clarke while Gaynor Blair from Midlothian lost 26-17 to Emma Moorhouse.

The Scots require an outright victory today to secure the title as England have a better shots difference.
