Bainfield gents are hoping to create some much-needed new year cheer this weekend in a ‘must-win’ tie against fellow strugglers Abbeyview in Division B of the indoor bowls Premier League.

The Fifers occupy the automatic relegation position with just two points from seven matches and host a Bainfield team four points better off but paying the price for a winless away record.

The Capital outfit head across the Forth Road Bridge tomorrow without star figures Robert Marshall and Jamie Reid.

“It’s a must-win game for both teams but sharing the six-point mark with Aberdeen gives us a chance of preserving our Premier League status without going through a play-off,” said player manager Gavin Smith.
