GAVIN SMITH’S debut as team manager at Bainfield today is marked by three late changes for the club’s opening match at Aberdeen in the A section of the indoor bowls Premier League.

Missing are original selections Tam Ebbs, Stewart Douglas and Josh Spalding. They have been replaced by Adam Brock, Kerr McKail and Danny McCourt. Brock and McKail form a new front end for Smith, who continues to have Alex Hurry Jnr as his third while McCourt plays second to Jamie Reid, Daniel Gormley and Craig Paterson.

Meanwhile, Bainfield Ladies field an unchanged team to host West Lothian. East Lothian are at home to Teviotdale while Balbardie visit Tweedbank.

Midlothian hosts one of the play-down sections of the Gents 2 Bowl Pairs Championship at Dalkeith. Billy Mellors partners Andy Jeffrey for East Lothian against East Fife while West Lothian’s Calum Logan and Neil Speirs open against Perth. Bainfield’s David McNair and Brian Combe start against Teviotdale while Jimmy Mallon and Walter McDougall represent Balbardie against Headwell.

Midlothian’s David Munro and Ian Forbes travel to West of Scotland IBC where they open against Clydebank.
