The final line-up has been confirmed for the £1200 Invitation Triples, sponsored by M&F Funeral Services, at Midlothian IBC on Saturday, January 4, as eight qualifiers joined the top seeds.

Midlothian’s premier league team captain Drew Pearson booked his place from Section C of the prelims and he was joined by the Ian Forbes triple with the trios of Connor Milne and Peter Gray failing to progress.

Two prominent local hopes in the shape of premier league stars Danny McDougall and Scott Runciman failed to reach the latter stage of the event from Section B with the honours going to Gary Thomson and Robert Crawford.

Section D also managed to produce two qualifiers in the shape of Jim Mallon and Lindsay Plenderleith to the exclusion of Alan Borthwick and Jamie Bathgate.

Stewart Douglas skipped his trio to success in Section A where the big surprise was the elimination of high-profile premier league skip Sandy Knight, who was joined on the sidelines by Alan Robinson and Frank Malko.

Kenny Bald completed the line-up of qualifiers by finishing top of the table in Section E with the trios of Colin Flower, Robert Stenhouse and Robin Macnab the also rans.

There are four round-robin sections down for decision on the final day’s play on Saturday week.

The triple comprising Billy Peacock, Paul Foster, and Alex Marshall MBE share the favourites tag for the event with that of Midlothian internationalists Ronnie Duncan, Colin Walker and David Peacock.
