Maitland showed good away form to beat Mayfield 6-3 in last night’s Division 2 match of the Alpha Trophies Edinburgh Bowling League.

It’s a result that gives then a two-point lead over second-placed Leith, who kept themselves in the frame with a 7-2 win at home to foot-of-the-table London Road Foundry.

But West End remain a danger to both with their third place enhanced by a 7-2 away victory over relegation-zoned Corstorphine that leaves them just 4½ points adrift of the leader.

Willowbrae chalked up a 7-2 win at home to Wardie a result that sees both clubs sitting in comfortable middle-table positions with just two fixtures to fulfil.
