East Lothian moved back to the top of the B section of the indoor bowls Premier League with a 113-48 home win over relegation-zoned Arbroath.

The resounding triumph was achieved courtesy of wins on all four rinks. Alex Marshall inspired East Lothian, with the world-stage figure always well in command as he skipped Kieran Simants, Dougie Berwick and Steven Morgan to a 32-shot success.

Derek Oliver was in need of a good result and achieved it by skipping Mark Johnston, Ewan Fallen and Graham Robertson to a 13-shot win, while Colin Cook, Jamie Gordon, Willie Wood and Scott Kennedy added a nine-shot triumph.

Billy Mellors had suffered a bad defeat at Falkirk but recovered his touch in excellent fashion to skip Jamie Higgins, Stewart Thomson and Andy Jeffrey to a solid nine-shot victory. And a bonus result for East Lothian came with the shock 71-70 defeat of Ardrossan by Paisley.

The Seniors side at East Lothian remain undefeated after eight games of the East B section of the national league after a 65-57 away win over Teviotdale at Hawick.

Willie Wood skipped his rink to an 11-shot victory while support came in the shape of four and two-shot wins respectively for Peter Laidlaw and Frankie Gray. Tom Young suffered a narrow single-figure defeat. EL hold a four-point lead over Edinburgh club Bainfield and can clinch the qualifying honours if successful in today’s visit to Berwickshire. Meanwhile, the Under-25 International trials at Abbeyview saw East Lothian ace Ewan Fallen earn an international debut and there were honours for Emma Brown and sisters Dee and Kim Hoggan.
