Boxing: Rock on Tommy as Philbin win thrills fans
Philbin paid tribute to Scottish internationalist Quigley’s never-say-die spirit after their three-round bill, saying: “I hit Quigley with some really hard body shots but the guy just kept coming back in my face – he was certainly tough to beat.”
Philbin’s next bout will be against Alloa’s Eastern champion Darren Reid on the Lochend club’s show at the Corn Exchange on October 21.

Hide AdLochend’s light-welterweight Ian Keys was also victorious at the Hibs Club with a second-round stoppage victory over Sparta southpaw Callum Vardy.
Young Sparta bantamweight Kieran Dignan put a smile on host club’s supporters’ faces by winning a hard-earned majority points verdict over Lochend’s Lewis Lomax although the Wood brothers – bantamweight Brian and light-welterweight Michael – had mixed fortunes with Coatbridge Barn’s Ian Buchanan registering a unanimous points win over Brian while Michael beat East Lothian rival Martin Buist on points.
Two other Lochend youngsters, Tommy McCallum and Sean Henderson both won, beating the Tranent Bronx club’s Thomas Duffield and Madison’s Kyle Christie, respectively, on points.
