Channel 5 to show Josh Taylor's first title fight in Edinburgh

Edinburgh's undefeated boxer Josh Taylor will contest his first professional title fight against Dave Ryan at Meadowbank on Friday, October 21, which will be screened live by Channel 5.

Both boxers will go head-to-head for the vacant Commonwealth super lightweight title, a belt Ryan (17-9), won in 2014 before surrendering the accolade to to John Wayne Hibbert in December.

Taylor, 25, a 2014 Commonwealth Games gold medallist, has enjoyed an unblemished start to life in the paid ranks after signing with Cyclone promoter and former super featherweight champion Barry McGuigan last summer.

The Prestonpans star has registered six consecutive knockouts, his most recent coming against Evincii Dixon in New York last month.
