Craigmillar super lightweight boxer Jason Easton says he can’t wait to fight on a show organised by former WBA featherweight champion, Barry McGuigan.
The 23-year-old lines up on tonight’s Cyclone Promotions’ ‘Lift Off’ undercard at Meadowbank and has been paired with Hungarian opponent Karoly Lakatos. Easton recorded his first win as a professional boxer last month when he stopped Ivailo Boyanov of Bulgaria in the third round at Ravenscraig Sports Centre in Motherwell.
Speaking ahead of tonight’s bout, Easton said: “It’s amazing being on a show put on by Barry McGuigan. He’s been there and done it all. It means a lot so I’m going to go out there and perform.
“It’s a massive event so I want to stand out. I’m really excited for tonight.
“He [Lakatos] is a tough veteran having fought 64 fights but he has only won 14. He’s put out a few guys though but I think I’’ll have enough in the tank.
“He’s quite a few years older than me at 35 so he does have that experience.
“But I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in. I’ve got over 100 people coming along to support me so I don’t want to let them down.
“I will be giving it my all so that people take notice of me so this is a big chance.”
