Edinburgh cruiserweight Stephen Simmons is the latest name to be added to the undercard of Josh Taylor’s ‘Bad Blood’ showdown with Ohara Davies at Braehead Arena in Glasgow next Saturday.
Simmons, who recently became a father for the first time, will contest a six-rounder as he aims to build some momentum following a recent back injury. The 32-year-old was forced to withdraw from his British title duel with Craig Kennedy in March. He did, however, end a seven-month hiatus with a comfortable points victory over Latvian Arturs Kulikauskis at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow last month. MTK fighter Simmons joins Haddington middleweight Iain Trotter and current Celtic super lightweight champion Jason Easton on the bill. Craigmillar’s Easton, 25, faces a big test against Belgian No.1 Steve Jamoye for the vacant IBO Inter-Continental title.
