Tommy Philbin wants a quick return after cut hand counts him out
The 27-year-old, who also works as a full-time fishmonger, required a course of antibiotics after suffering a cut to his hand whilst at work. Philbin revealed the British Boxing Board of Control were unwilling to pass him fit despite his best efforts to have the decision overturned.
“It was really disappointing not to fight as I’d been so looking forward to it. I haven’t been in the ring in seven months so to have to withdraw because I’d been on antibiotics was a real kick in the stomach,” Philbin explained. “I’m going to keep training and am ready to go whenever I get the call.”
Meanwhile, lightweight Thomas Dickson registered a straightforward points win over Naheem Chaudhry.
