Both were made to work hard in their semi-final victories. Carlisle lost the opening two frames against Darren Gilbertson who made breaks of 45 and 60. Carlisle won the third and then the fourth with a run of 48. However, the decisive frame was the fifth, with Carlisle making a clearance of 32 to steal it on the black. He comfortably won the next with breaks of 30 and 35 to pocket a 4-2 victory.

MacGillivray raced in front against teenager Dean Young, winning the opening two frames, however, breaks of 45 and 50 helped Young level the match against his much more experienced opponent.

MacGillivray edged in front again with a run of 49 but Young won a tight sixth frame to force a decider. However, there was to be no stopping the former professional as he comfortably won the final frame.

The final starts at 7:30pm and will be played over the best of nine frames.
