On that August day at Forthill in Broughty Ferry, Carlton came out on top by 36 runs after a topsy-turvy tussle that could have gone either way.

For the hosts it looks like ongoing visa issues will delay the debut of their player/coach Michael Castle from Australia with skipper Ali Evans to finalise his XI this morning.

Both teams go into tomorrow’s Grange Loan encounter looking for first 50-over wins of the campaign. In week one Carlton’s encounter with Glenrothes was off while Watsonians lost at Forfarshire.

Both have had good results in T20 cricket this week and they will be keen to get a victory over their local rivals.

Watsonians bring in the experienced all-rounder Brendan O’Connell and Lewis Dingle for the unavailable duo Andrew Cockburn and Tom Pratt.

George Munsey hit 151 runs in two innings for Scotland A in a three-day win during the week at Durham and he will be keen to add to his Sonians tally in this game.

Heriot’s and Mazars Grange got off to winning starts last week and both are on the road tomorrow. The Goldenacre men make the short trip to Stewart’s Melville with Loedolff Potgieter coming in for a debut alongside the experienced seamer Sean Weeraratna. Missing for Heriot’s is last week’s man of the match Michael Shean and James Hearn.

Having been bowled out for 91 against Arbroath, Stewart’s Melville skipper Greg Ruthven looks set to make a couple of changes to strengthen his batting line-up.

Grange are at Forfarshire with few changes to the team expected, skipper Preston Mommsen set to finalise this morning.

RH Corstorphine lost out at Heriot’s and welcome Glenrothes to East Barnton Avenue.
