Centre stage suits Max Evans in Scotland’s Tonga Test

MAX Evans is relishing the opportunity to be the centre of attention for Scotland in tomorrow’s EMC Test with Tonga in Aberdeen.

The 29-year-old has played the majority of his rugby on the wing for Scotland of late, but is eager to show head coach Andy Robinson his ability in his favoured role at Pittodrie.

“I’m massively excited, starting at 13, a position I’ve not started for Scotland for two years,” said the Castres back. “That’s my favourite position, the position I play for my club. Although I’d be happy playing in any position for Scotland, if I had the choice between wing and 13 I’d choose 13.

“Andy’s given me a big opportunity and I’m excited about taking it on.”

Evans is determined Scotland end a rollercoaster calendar year – featuring a RBS 6 Nations whitewash, wins in Australia, Fiji and Samoa, and defeat to New Zealand and South Africa – on a high.

“We came into this series on the back of three great wins, with huge confidence,” he added. “It will be huge to get the win and it would be great to finish on the win going into the Six Nations.”
