The Capital star, building up for a title tilt at next month’s world indoor championships in Portland, romped clear in the one mile event in a time of 3:54.59.

And it extended the Boston-based 25-year-old’s winning streak in 2016 to three after he took the 1500 metres in 3:39.28.

Edinburgh AC club–mate Lynsey Sharp, who has spent the past month training in the United States, opened her campaign with third place in the 800m behind American rival Ajee Wilson.
