City in hat-trick bid

EDINBURGH CITY are going for a hat-trick in this weekend’s Schelde Sports Scottish Volleyball League women’s title showdown tomorrow, but Troon PA coach Vince Krawczyk believes the outcome is too close to call.

The Ayrshire side are out to wreck Edinburgh’s bid for their third successive title in a two-leg play-off which will go down to a “Golden Set” if the teams are level after two matches.

Edinburgh host the first leg tomorrow at Queensferry High (12.30pm) with the return in Ayr on Sunday. “It’s too hard to predict a winner and I would rate our chances as only 50-50,” Krawczyk said.

In the men’s play-off final, City of Edinburgh face Kilmarnock Blaze, the only team to have beaten them in the regular season.

As top seeds, they will host Blaze in the second leg at Queensferry High on Sunday (1pm) hopeful of celebrating the title on their home court.
