CJ deserves Nigeria call-up

Heriot’s rugby coach Mark Appleson has hailed the latest recruit to gain international honours this weekend.

Second row CJ Osazuwa has been selected for Nigeria to play in this weekend’s Confederation of African Rugby Union’s sevens tournament.

CJ, who gave up a promising junior football career with Musselburgh Athletic to concentrate on rugby, says: “The winners of the Africa qualifier are guaranteed a place in the 2013 World Cup sevens finals in Moscow.”

While disappointed to be without Osazuwa for tomorrow’s Goldenacre clash with unbeaten leaders and current champions, Melrose, the coach says: “CJ has worked particularly hard all summer to get himself fitter and the sevens trip is a deserved reward.”

Matt Reid moves up to second row alongside Ross Martin. Melrose coach Craig Chalmers is hoping to have back row Peter Eccles fit to face his old club and Alan Dodds comes in for Chris Hardie.”
