Beghin passes 1000 mark with his fifth century of the season

Graeme BEGHIN smashed another century to take him over 1000 league runs for 2013 as Edinburgh South defeated 
Holy Cross at the Inch in 
East One.

The young South African has had a great summer in the Capital and headed into the 
encounter on 942 league runs.

With the hosts batting first, he soon had a chance to reach the 1000 mark and passed that by hitting 118, his fifth century of the campaign. In the process, he also became the man who has scored the most runs for Edinburgh South in a season. Beghin’s century helped Edinburgh South post 213-9 from 50 overs, Shannon Bonfield taking four wickets for the visitors.

In reply, Holy Cross gave the run chase a good go, but 
ultimately fell 13 runs short.

Grange II remain unbeaten at the top of the table, 40 not out from Giles Holmes and 30 not out from Ian Sandbrook seeing them chase down the 202 set by Murrayfield DAFS at Fettes.

Tom Barrett hit 154 not out as Carlton II remained second, the Grange Loan side winning 
easily at Dunfermline.

Captain Grant Newman made 54 not out and Craig Everett 49 as Carlton II made 299-2 batting first. Dougal Main then took 4-31 and Haris Aslam three wickets as the Fifers were all out for 138.

Andy Moffat took the superb figures of 7-32 as Edinburgh Accies saw off the challenge of St Boswells at Newfield while Musselburgh defeated Watsonians II in East Lothian.
