Eric Caw, a cricketing stalwart who was often known as ‘Mr Corstorphine’, has passed away in his late 70s.

Eric began his cricket career playing for Elldee CC, a works side formed primarily by the employees of a small combustion engineering company.

During his lengthy career with Elldee, Carrick Knowe and Corstorphine, he scored 10,000 runs and took 1000 wickets.

His biggest achievement for Corstorphine came in the 1987 season when, with the side threatened from relegation from ESCA Division Two, he managed to bring in pro Surinder Khanna – an Indian ODI player – for the final few matches and avoid the drop.
